Global Outreach was organized in 1970 by a group of Christian lay people who had become involved in community development projects in Latin America. The primary purpose of Global Outreach at that time was to facilitate volunteers from North America as they contributed goods and services to strengthen established missionary efforts. Its scope would soon broaden, however. There arose in Global Outreach a group of dedicated volunteers and faithful supporters who helped shape, motivate, and fund its future development.
Under the leadership of Dr. and Mrs. Sammy Simpson and Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Hancock, Global Outreach took on an organizational shape that propelled it towards the effective international organization it is today. The organization quickly grew, and in 1981 Global Outreach transitioned into a missionary sending agency, with its first full-time missionaries being approved that year. Today, Global Outreach has over 300 missionaries in 49 countries across the globe serving in a variety of ministry platforms.
Global is somewhat unique as a sending agency. Global Outreach missionaries benefit from the 100% promise. Donors can take confidence that 100% of their donations go to the missionary and ministry they intend. Gobal Outreach does not take a percentage of the support that missionaries raise for their respective ministries. Additionally, Global Outreach has been accredited by the ECFA since 2008.
Global Outreach is also committed to supporting its missionaries through industry-leading member care. We want to support the whole family -- caring for them emotionally, spiritually, and practically as they experience the challenges of cross-cultural ministry. Global Outreach missionaries can experience excellent care and support as they serve the Lord around the world.
