With advances in communication technology we have seen the rapid growth of telemedicine based services that include live video consults and the electronic transfer of medical data. These alternatives to in-person services were first developed with expensive systems for remote locations like Alaska that had limited options. Today’s core technology has significantly lower cost, is a common component of US healthcare, and has proven effective service from the US to any international region that has access to internet connections. The past five years have seen a significant expansion of internet service in many poor or developing countries.
Ministry Proposal
A-Vu Media has a proven telemedicine system that can be offered to medical mission organizations as a low cost shared resource to serve mission locations. The system:
· Operates with off the shelf hardware: PCs, tablets, Cameras, other USB devices.
· Works with limited bandwidth, wired or wireless.
· Supports multipoint calls without degradation.
· Is fully secure with HIPAA compliance.
· Is configured for provider control, easy use and pre-scheduled consults.
· Provides data access and transfer capabilities.
· Operates on the core Vidyo Platform, a market leader in US and Canada.
With this system providers can do pre, post, and on-demand client visits on their own PC from their home or any other location with internet. The system can also be installed for providers in the distant country to implement local telemedicine service. Other options include distant training or general operating communication on a secure video conferencing platform.
